  • About the client
Spinalis is a medical clinic devoted to rehabilitate people with spinal cord injury. The clinic was founded in 1984 by Claes Hultling and Richard Levi, and is part of one of Europe's largest medical universities. Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.
    About the project
The Spinalis handbook is the clinic´s ”magnus opus” and covers what happens in the body in a spinal cord injury, how different organs are affected and how the rehabilitation works.
    Solution
The book is printed in black and orange and illustrated by Jesper Waldersten. The binding of the book, a so called ”naked spine” does not only give a visual reference to the theme of the book, but has also an important practical reson, since it makes the book lie flat on a surface without closing, something that is very practical for the many with spinal cord injuries without full mobility in both hands.
